Unity by Bohyun Yoon

2009
Dimension: 12”H x 96”W x 12”D
Materials: silicon rubber, wire, steel, spotlight

Unity is an installation where truncated and fragmented male and female toy-like rubber figures create an orgy through their shadows. They have “unity,” as they collectively hang like puppets together. A visual metaphor for the invisible power in our society is accomplished through implementing both light and shadow as active players in the piece. Thus, the piece portrays that even our pleasure or our sexual desire are controlled by an invisible power.
